Basement Floor hails from Baltimore, Maryland USA.
They performed live during the 70s, 80s & 90s playing thousands of shows at venues around the East Coast of the USA.
In 1980 they signed an ill-fated record deal with Emerald City Records (an Atlantic Records custom label).
During this time the band recorded over 100 original songs at their studio in Baltimore.
After realizing that none of their music was ever going to be released by Atlantic they decided to release the music on their own.
In December 1983 BASEMENT FLOOR GREATEST HITS VOLUME ONE was released on Eastern Records, a small independent label based in Maryland.
According to lead singer Tim Miskimon, “This is not really a greatest hits album.
We were in a bad record deal – none of our music was being released even though by time 1983 rolled around we should have been releasing our 4th album – we had over 100 songs written & many of them recorded.
Instead we had all these songs to choose from so we picked a dozen of them and as a joke we titled the album Greatest Hits Volume One”.
Originally released in 1983 on vinyl and cassette only, now – for the first time ever this album is finally available on CD.
This album is full of classic rock gems – freshly remixed & remastered from the original 8-track recordings.
You can pick up your copy today at a fantastic price!
NOTE:
In 1991 by request of their record label BASEMENT FLOOR changed it’s name to EMPIRE.
EMPIRE released 2 albums – “Driven By Rock” in 1996 and “Leeches” in 2004.
They occasionally do live shows under both names.
