Album Notes

Bass Instincts was originally formed in 1984 and split up after five successful years doing local dances, regular ceilidh venues, festivals - Whitby, Sidmouth, Holmfirth – as well as local and national radio. The band made two LP recordings:
• Stripper's Waltz, 1986, produced by Richard Digance on Dambuster Records
• Bassland 1987, produced by Paul James on Mayday Records

In 1989, the members of the band went their separate ways, going on to form or join other Essex bands, notably, Itchy Feet, The Metric Foot Band, The Hosepipe Band and KEGS. In late 2007, we were persuaded by a couple of old fans to reform for a one-off gig, but it was such good fun that we decided to keep going.

Our line-up comprises four of the five original members plus a new youthful drummer / percussionist:
• Christy Alston Drums, Percussion
• Graham Alston Guitars, Banjo
• Simon Haines Melodeons, Foot bass, Hurdy gurdy
• Stuart Moffat Bass guitar, Acoustic guitar, Deep guitar, Harmonica
• Val Woollard Recorders, English bagpipes, Wind synthesiser, Bombarde, Crumhorn, Hautbois languedocien
Although we're primarily a ceilidh band with a strong rock streak, we also offer concert spots.
