Album Notes

Battle Circus makes no qualms about their artistic merit. The quartet is filled with classically trained musicians in an otherwise crank-it-if-you-can’t-play-it environment. This is evident not only in their musical presentation but also that of their video accompaniments. The Auckland-based group has built their reputation on the grand scale; Performances tend to focus more on the festivals (Big Day Out, Fuse Festival in Adelaide, Taiwan’s Spring Scream Festival), releases on the august (debut EP was a four-song, forty-seven minute epic orchestration) and videos on the theatrics (end results include full-production mini-films and animations).

Battle Circus has experienced strong growth since conception in 2005. Almost immediately after formation, the group recorded two strong singles, “Utopium” and “Send In The Clones.” Wasting no time, they created videos for each, one being fully animated, using only their own resources. Soon thereafter the group was recording their first proper release, The Half-Light Symphony. The excitement surrounding the 2008 homeland digital release of this epic four-track EP led to performances across the globe.
