Album Notes

Ballistix - Black Dogg; is north Minneapolis native born 1985, he started rapping 1997 at age 13 which was inspired by a verse from rapper Jay-Z’s song “Can I Live” off his then album “Reasonable Doubt”. Nick then formed an independent record label and group called “Holla Early” at the time he also co-produced and hosted on a local cable access show with northwest community television; where you can really see the potential of this artist as a rounded entertainer. Nick Slaughter, (real name) he got the name Ballistix from a friend because, it described a side of his personality that comprised the lyrics for his music. He later adopted the name Black Dogg which to him described the edgy-creative voice his music; as well as later on when he put the two names together. Ballistix, and his group “Holla Early” have been rapping for years but didn’t make a name for themselves until; 2005 where they performed at countless venues and events in the Minneapolis; Minnesota areas. And the following year released the album “The Takeover”. This time around Ballistix Black Dogg and his friend and producer Mark Goode have made this album “Characteristix Of A Star, a work well worth the wait. This album features hits written by the two, which includes music from the Holla Early Family and Marcus Goode’s son; R&B artist Steph G, who is also featured, on the smooth lay back single “Let’s Ride,” Ballistix Black Dogg has been working on this album, for years and feels he finally got it right. This album will be the first solo release from the two self-made labels; Mark Goode’s, All Goode Music; and Ballistix Black Dogg; Holla Early Records.
