This CD was a project dear to my heart. I've lived in the Yukon for a long time and have met amazing people, seen amazing sights, and done amazing things. Buckshot Betty is a tale about my friend who as a single woman has built her own business up in Beaver Creek, Yukon and just seems to be able to more in a day than most do in a week. Dog of Shame is about another friend who does ski-jouring and dog sledding and has this amazing dog, Jesus. He is the king of everything until he gets in trouble and has to wear a muzzle. Then he's the saddest dog in the world! Larger than Life was commissioned by Tourism Yukon and is a ballad of the beauty and grandeur that is our existance up here. Of Ice and Men is the title song of the CD and is an "unlove" song about relationships that don't work out well. Out of the Blues is a rockin' song about dealing with SADD as there isn't a lot of sun in the North, hence depression and lack of sleep. Outdoor man is in praise of men that like to dog mush, are handy with tools and women. Land of Gold is the unacknowledged anthem for the Yukon written by Manfred Janssen and Jim Vautour. Everyone knows it and it explains why we might possibly have come up here when there is way more sun down south! There are songs about fishing, Ice Fog, loss of love, and much, much more. It features musicians from Whitehorse, Yukon, my heartplace, and from Portland, Oregon, my birthplace.
