Pure classical. The voice of string chamber music at its grandest, with swirling violins, bouncing violas, and soothing cellos. Out of the many CDs the Boston Chamber Music Society has sent us, this is our favorite.

Enescu's Octet given justice
author: Tyson Bittrich
No offense given to Felix Mendelssohn's fine work, but I purchased and am very pleased with this CD for the second selection. George Enecu's Octet is not widely known, and should be. Whereas other recordings of it are for extended string sections, the Boston Chamber Music Society has kept in its original intsrumentation, leaving the correct balance and sonorities. Enescu's works are underrated and this is a jem among them. Give it a listen.
