I've been listening to "Useless" and "Hymn to Devotion" in my car over and over and over again. It's driving everybody else on the freeway crazy. But I just don't care.

Having stumbled across this artists back catalogue on mp3.com a few months back, I ordered the CD not really knowing what to expect.

From the opening notes on 'useless' I knew this was going to be truly special record. 'Useless' holds me spellbound on every listen, a song that evokes so much emotion. It's purity runs through the veins and is an enriching experience. 

This is no one track record. The natural pure production leaves each track melting a hole under the skin and straight into the heart. 'Today was my home' has a wonderful mix of melody and a sense of yearning brought about by the slide guitar whilst at the same time being intriguing and very subtle.

I'm still hearing new textures to this beautiful album. An album that really touches me.

Soothing, intoxicating and poetic, Brian Donahue is a sure fire favorite for fans of Duncan Sheik, Elliot Smith, Damien Rice or David Hopkins. Donahue blends a melancholy arrangements of acoustic and electric guitars with somber percussions to create emotionally-intense music. In "Strangest Love", a darker alternative track, he sings, "When you tear me down, I still hold you up/When I'm spilling over, you drink it up/I need this, it’s the strangest love." This guy has mystery oozing out of his mouth, and I must say, I’m intrigued. True talent in the adult alternative genre is yours, courtesy of this rising artist.

Look, i can't say enough about this CD. It makes me cry. Brian's voice is captivating and his choices of melody lines and song structures captures so much emotion that you have to hear to feel it.
