notes
The Legendary Beachcombers formed in 1961 and rocked the Pacific Northwest until 1968. This live CD captures the flavor of the era, the teen dance halls and concerts. It really rocks!!
The original band members got together again in 1990 and still do 10 gigs a year...playing class reunions, car shows, '60's Nights, etc.
This CD brings back the sound of Seattle, Tacoma, Aberdeen, Olympia, etc. in the 60's, the sound of The Wailers, Sonics, and other great Northwest bands. The sounds that influenced Metal Church, Nirvana, Melvins, and other regional acts.

The Legendary Beachcombers
author: Fred CrowderLove the music of the Beachcombers as well as I grew with some of these people back in Aberdeen and Hoquiam

Great live sounds from one of the hardest working NW bands of the mid sixties. Primarily covers of national/regional hits (as were most of the set lists from the dance bands of the time). Especially strong are two cuts (Dirty Robber and Mashy) by Tacoma's powerhouse band, The Wailers. Brings back vivid memories of Sat. night dances at the Armory, Aberdeen YMCA, Vasa Hall, and the Silver Seagull. Excellent production except for the vocal mix on "What's Your Name." Two "vintage," original Beachcomber bonus tracks add value, and a true feel for the sound of 1965. Love those Vox amps. How 'bout adding "Little Latin Lupe Lu," and "Oop Pah Pa Doo," on the follow up release? Or maybe "Purple Peanuts?"
Good old, honest early NW rock at its best!
author: Sammy CarlsonThis sure brings back some great memories of the days when there was a huge and vibrant music scene in hte Pacific Northwest. The Beachcombers certainly played a big part in that scene. The music was rather unique, primarily because the NW was isolated from the rest of the USA due to the lack of super highways, short radius radio broadcasts, and no (thank heavens) MTV. Great stuff!
