Album Notes

Chris Beale is a former bass player and singer of a British 80’s trio known as “If Only” going back to his music roots through songwriting. A well-traveled emissary, his songs coolly reflect on pieces of life from the gravity of war to the quirks of local culture. Though mellow, his melodies and lyrics carry true emotion, wry humor and an utter love of life.

Along with his partner, Angel Liu who branched out into songwriting from poetry, the music they produce has a distinct emotive quality that's neither extreme or middle of the road. There's a song for every slice of life ranging from the light-hearted Freedom Road to the tender lovers' homage of Half Light, as well as the satirical punk humor of Whatever.

Los Angeles has lent a California veneer to Chris' latest works though his distinctive smooth and soothing sound retains a UK flavor. Chris counts as his influences Joan Armatrading, The Beatles, Beautiful South, Sam Cooke, The The, The Stranglers, and of course, the great Bob Dylan.
