Album Notes

CAR CAUGHT FIRE is the Bears first release in 14 years. Recorded over a three year period at Adrian Belew's home studio, the disc reflects the growth of a wonderfully unique style - what critic Robert Chrisgau refers to as, "music worthy of a new category."

Using the freedom afforded by being "fabulous musicians not concerned with impressing anyone with how cool they are," The Bears concentrate solely on creating great recordings of great songs, skillfully doing whatever it takes to distill the essence of their music down to elegantly simple modern rock gems. Adrian Belew's experience as a platinum award-winning producer is brilliantly displayed with the transparent production heard on CAR CAUGHT FIRE.

Several of it's radio worthy tracks have already received consistent North American airplay and network television exposure.

This is the best album the Bears have ever done, in fact, I would easily place it among the Top 20 albums released this decade. (Yes, I know the decade's not over yet but trust me, this CD belongs in the top.) There is a lot of variety & different flavors among these tracks, and not a bad song in the bunch. The world would be a better place if this was the kind of music that got mass exposure. Simply brilliant. Buy it-- you'll LOVE it.

As and old fan of The Raisins from my Cincinnati days, I have followed The Bears pretty closely. This album is the high point for The Bears so far. Like The Raisins, it is happy pop and dancable. My wife and I did most of our courting at Raisins shows and might not be together today without Rob, Bob and the rest. When we got to hear Car Caught Fire and see The Bears in the Spring it was like we were young again.

This is one Cd you have to buy! You can't stop listening to it. I would consider this the best album I have bought this year. By the way, if you get a chance to see them live, please take the opportunity to go!
