Album Notes

Beata E. Golec is a concert pianist and composer. She was born in Gliwice, Poland as a first child of Alicja and Dariusz Golec. Beata started playing piano at age 7, and at age 13 decided to pursue cello studies as well. Beata’s first compositions were written at age 13, but the official recognition for her as a composer came three years later- in 1997, when she received an award for “Fantazja Polska” for piano and cello at the “Patri Patriae” All-Polish Composers Competition for a piece dedicated to Pope John Paul II. “Fantazja Polska” premiered at Ars Cameralis Silesiae Superioris Festival in 1997 (Katowice, Poland) by Beata E. Golec and Miroslaw Makowski. The score of the piece is currently kept in Vatican.

Beata completed her undergraduate education in Poland at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw (piano performance studied under Jerzy Sterczynski) and at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice (composition and music theory under Edward Boguslawski).
Since 2003 she has been studying at Eastman School of Music on a full- tuition scholarship and received a MM degree in piano performance in 2005. She is currently a doctoral candidate in piano performance at Eastman School under Professor Rebecca Penneys.

Several of Beata's compositions have been launched at Women in Music Festival in Rochester, NY (2005, 2006, 2007). The list of the performed compositions includes: Four preludes for piano, "Phobia" for piano, "Forests" for piano, "Toccata" for piano, "Clouds" for marimba and vibraphone, Toccata No. 1 for organ.

In October 2006- April 2007 Beata has been chosen the Artist of the Month by the directors of the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition (Beata has been the first prize winner of this competition twice- in 2005 and 2006 and received the second prize in 2007).

Beata’s newest CD album consisting of compositions by J. L. Zaimont, A. Part, W. A. Mozart and B. Golec was released on October 5th, 2007.

Beata is an active performer. Her concert schedule consists of more than 40 concerts annually. Beata debuted at Carnegie Hall in May 2005 and was invited to perform there again in 2006. Her concert schedule can be found at www.beatagolec.us

\"A Musical Journey\"

What an honor to put my thoughts down for Beata , teacher, gifted pianist ....where our paths intertwined. Teacher, student....student, teacher we all learn something valuable. What an honor to have her CD in my hands....my first exposure to this kind of music. Brightness, darkness, joy, sadness, creativeness, emotionally charged, visions that danced in my head as her fingers move with such precise stroking of the keys. There is an aliveness that happens inside of my own soul, feelings of my own emotions as I hear her most intimate drama of capturing life in her music. Real life, not sugar coated fantasy, but real, tough, smooth, no fantasy\'s here. Beata, I can\'t wait until you write your next pieces of your own musical life journey. You have brought everyone that has the opportunity to listen to your wonderful music a gift of yourself thank you. Be inspired to share with the world, all you have learned and are giving back. Thank you so much for this opportunity to listen and to learn through you. Warmly Denise Street~

I\'m not going to write here any professional comment. I\'m going to put it down very simple...because I\'m a musician , because I know Beata very well , because I\'ve promised and because I want to....and because some people don\'t understand what music really is... Beata isn\'t American artist! She isn\'t Polish artist! She plays music! ...it does not matter where we come from or what we do ...music /her music is about her and all of us...soul speaks through music...Beata is a perfect translator... She can put emotions in one track...\"high and low\" emotions...maybe that is why we\'ve named this style minimalism...I would call it accuracy in describing feelings ,emotions .... This album is something what we cannot rally comment..music isn\'t something what we can put in words...we have to listen to it and then decide if we can feel it or not... All I can say....I feel very deep emotions when I\'m listening to Beata\'s music....that is why I find it difficult to describe this album..and that\'s why I place her music on a very high top...those who cannot feel this album ,don\'t know deepest themselves...are not familiar with all emotions that rule our life and dailyness... Beata presents true music...

Beata's first album is a true demonstration of her complete artistry. She is one of the most natural and creative young musicians I have ever played with. Her accomplishments as a pianist, composer and a collaborative pianist are nothing short of phenomenal. Her attention to detail in this performance is very evident, along with her individual interpretation, particularly on the Mozart. This album is first class, and should be in every pianist's collection.

Beata E. Golec, pianist and composer

Polish-born American pianist and composer Beata Golec's first major label release places her in the prestigious line of classical pianist-composers. And rightfully so. She opens with a triptych of her compositions, "Prelude," "Toccata" and "Forests." Her jazz, impressionist and minimalist-inspired works are played with great depth of emotion, elegance, and even playfulness when required. Golec is well aware of the piano's capabilities in both composition and performance; she conjures bright sounds in the piano's high registers and rich, spacious tones in the bass. The Zaimont and Pärt selections are played equally well. Golec is always in command with a flawless technique and an intelligent sense of movement and pulse. She sculpts phrases and changes her touch effortlessly. She closes with Mozart's Sonata in C Major, K. 330. Her interpretation is an absolute delight—articulations are light, melodies are conversational, and drama keeps the listener easily engaged.
