Album Notes

Bay Area psychedelic duo Francillia and Quincy B – collectively known as Beatnik Castle, released their Maxi-single “Will U B Mine?” in March 2009 which features remixes and re-recordings by such dance world remixers as Miami’s Cato K, Nashville’s Lenny B, and, of course, Quincy B. The single is currently getting airplay on 66 dance/mix radio stations across the country, including XM/Sirius BPM and 16 radio stations in Europe, including the UK and Germany, as well as Australia and South America. Since signing with promoter DJ Harry F. Towers of DEET Promotions in March 2009, Francillia and Quincy B have been extremely busy - performing at the Winter Music Conference in Miami in March 2009, as well as personal appearances at, local dance venues, art exhibits, fashion shows, and singing the national anthem for local and national sporting events. This culturally diverse couple also performs the dance/club songs “unplugged” at coffee shoppes and private parties as well. Beatnik Castle is planning to sign with New York/Orlando-based Dance Radio promotions company Promo Only later this month. Also helping the Beatniks is Al Gomes from Big Noise in Providence, RI. America’s hottest duo was selected as finalists for the 2009 Urban Music Awards and will perform at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on July 17, 2009.
"Will U B Mine?" in its original version was originally released in 2008 by Scovill Avenue, yet another unrecognized Bay Area gem whose 2008 Mad Monk, LTD CD “Big House” amazingly was placed on the official Grammy Ballot in seven categories Grammy nods from the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences Committee in 2009, including the coveted categories “Record of the Year,” “Album of the Year,” and “Song of the Year”. Incidentally, “Will U B Mine?” in its original version, was in the Grammy category “Dance Single of the Year” as well. In 2007, Beatnik Castle’s Mad Monk label mates Peasants of Posture had four different songs nominated in four different categories for the 2008 Grammy Awards. All nominated songs were written, arranged, and produced (and, in some cases, performed) by Mr. Quincy B. himself!
The lovely, seductive persona of Mad Monk, LTD recording artist Francillia, lead singer of Florida/US Virgin Islands-based hard-edged psychedelic-trippy-hippie high-energy pop-dance outfit Beatnik Castle, is obviously stunning to the naked eye. She dazzles and captivates audiences with a graceful swagger yet exemplifies the quintessential nonchalant tomboy attitude. Not only does she display qualities of poignant musical virtuosity, she’s equally and artistically tenacious and tough. Dedicated yet dazzling. Elegant, stylish and sophisticated yet somber, unorthodox, and pensive, Francillia soulfully expresses her emotional prowess through Beatnik Castle’s high-energy eclectic music. Her sultry, expressive vocals energize and invigorate souls with delicate ease; her poignant presence meticulously captures the essence of creative ingenuity.
Her chic persona is in direct contrast to Beatnik’s other member - producer, arranger and songwriter Quincy B. Scovill. Amazingly, this eclectic blend of unique, polar opposite musicians (Quincy admittedly listens to “The” groups like The Osmonds, The Archies, The Beatles, The Turtles, as well as “heavier” groups such as Demilich, Celtic Frost, and W.A.S.P!) performs incredibly well and efficient. It’s a unique combination of beauty and beast – a virtual collaborative yin and yang that results in effective, sensual pitchblende of diverse musical accolades as evidenced on “Will U B Mine?” Beatnik Castle’s debut CD on Tampa-based independent label Mad Monk, LTD.
