Album Notes

Original vocal music from the musical Destiny in a black box musical theater (theatre) setting.
In the musical Destiny, the story begins with a young girl named Destiny who is living in Saint Clair, Pennsylvania in the early 1900’s. At the age of eight her drunken father uses her as collateral in a card game. He loses the bet and Destiny is taken away by Pagliacci, the maniacal carnival owner. Destiny lives as Pagliacci’s prisoner for ten years before the carnival returns to her home town. Once back in Saint Clair, Destiny hopes to reunite with her childhood love, Jamie. Pagliacci is determined to make Destiny love him. Destiny is determined to escape his grasp forever.

The original story of Destiny was written by John C. Kline and Christine Malone Kline, who later wrote the stage script with Carolyn Curran Slota. The music was written by mother and daughter song writing team Cecilia Beatty and Christine Malone Kline. In addition to their musical theater compositions Beatty and Kline are also well known for their vocal jazz music, and their classical choral and solo pieces.
