Album Notes

Beaucoup Blue, Adrian and David Mowry have seen more than a fair share of superb talent join their roster over the years, but no matter who or how many, the essence of Beaucoup Blue is only two players, father and son. Their sets, which simply consist of two people, two microphones, and two unplugged guitars, carry the weight of great numbers. This is a massive, encompassing, and emotionally transcendent folk-blues. It is quite simply mystifying to experience the "less is more" principle at play so distinctly. Some nights, hardly audible beneath the drumming applause, a version of "Mystery Train" can be heard, colossal but weightless as a heavenly chariot. In those moments it is hard to imagine the blues needing or wanting anything more than these two, who know how to tell a story, and create a roomful of thunder by kicking the baseboards in time.

REVIEWS

Out of the Woodwork

We had stumbled across Beaucoup Blue playing at Musikfest in Bethlehem PA and were absolutely stunned by their talent. We bought the Hearts at Home CD at the festival and liked it so much that I went online to order another copy to give as a Christmas present. I also picked up 2 copies of this CD confident I would love it. I was not disappointed. The harmonies of the father and son are excellent.

As someone who primarily favors instrumentally accomplished groups and small ensembles (be it rock, jazz, etc.), I tend to be very particular about listening to solo or duo acts. Beaucoup Blue, though a "mere" acoustic duo, manage to generate the feel of a full band playing through their accomplished singing and guitar work. Highly recommended.

I can't say enough about this CD and if your in doubt about buying it do yourself a huge favor and GET IT NOW. It's original acoustic blues with smokin' vocals by both father and son. Both are gifted players and dig the original tunes as well. This CD is worth it's weight in gold, and then some!
