These 19 songs represent a cross section of 30 years of roots music
in Alberta. For every track and every artist included in this compilation,
many more couldn't be included due to the obvious limitations of time
and space. The oldest track is the David Wilkie/Gaye Delorme
performance of Chanson D'Amour, recorded in Richard Harrow’s
Living Room Studios in 1977. The most recent recording is
Clea Roddick's impassioned performance of the Anne Loree song
"Happiness Is Not For Sale", completed just this past February. This collection
features many familiar artists and songs, but there are also a handful of
performances from artists who you are probably not familiar with.
The purpose of the compilation is to ensure that these earlier performances
are not forgotten, that some of these new artists and songs are discovered,
and that this collection will serve as inspiration for a new generation of "Beautiful Dreamers".
