Album Notes

Songs are everywhere. Every place, every element, rock, tree, animal, has its own songs to share for healing, teaching and celebration. The 13 (11 are original) songs on this recording were all either received at or inspired by Spirit Hollow, a non-profit Vermont retreat center dedicated to the transformation of consciousness. At least 15 different people from the Spirit Hollow community lent their voices, songs, instruments and hearts to make this album a truly beautiful testament to the power of love, community, spiritual devotion and the co-creative power of humans plus nature.

The songs include a complete ritual "arc:" beginning with songs of invocation to the Spirits of the many directions, honoring the spirits of Spirit Hollow and the aliveness of the ancestors who came before us, building to the peak of the wave in tributes to Ammachi and other guides on the path, to celebrating both the quest for lone vision and deep longing for union with the Divine and sharing the dance in circles of like-minded folks and coming if for a gentle landing with closing songs "Beauty All Around" and traditional Sanskrit benediction "Om Asatoma" (lead us from from darkness to light, from unreality to reality, from untruth to truth; peace, peace, peace.")

This moving CD has everything from a capella harmonies, to folk songs with guitar and harmonies to frame drum and djembe to rattle to harmonium and keyboards and the fabulous piano of Mark Kelso. It is the perfect accompaniment for ceremonies, yoga sadhana, hanging out with friends and
for "dropping into sacred space."
