Album Notes

Beauty's Confusion make music that rides a fine line between electronic pop and gloomy indie rock. Influenced by a myriad of sound, from underground hip-hop (Buck 65, Anticon), and the "Bristol Sound" (Portishead, Crustation, Archive), to melodic rock (Catherine Wheel, Coldplay), and electronic pop (Frou Frou, Ivy), the duo has created music and words that break the hearts of those who listen.

BC is comprised of Chris Caulder (formerly Skip Frederiksen) and Jenna Ferone. They formed in 2002 on a mutual love for emotionally affecting movies, and the vast indie rock and trip-hop music realms: music with heartfelt meaning. They are extremely down-to-earth, hard-working people who strive to create music that defies the generation gap, as well as the gap between electronic music enthusiasts and indie rock fans.

Beauty's Confusion released an EP in spring of 2002 (and an updated version in late 2002), and in 2004, released their 14-song full-length CD "Breathe In." BC have remixed several independent and well-known artists, including Natalie Walker (formerly of Daughter Darling), Kosheen, Public Enemy, Lunascape, Sarah Fimm, Copeland, and Bjork. BC have also collaborated with and have been remixed by the worldwide electronic music collective Bitstream Dream.

If the sounds of Esthero, Dido, Sarah McLachlan, Sneaker Pimps, Puracane, and Portishead interest you, you may enjoy the music of Beauty's Confusion.

I learned about this band a few months ago, and after downloading some free mp3s from their website I decided to buy their cd. There's not much to say that hasn't been said about this album other than the fact that every single song is excellent. You can play the cd from begining to end and every song is worth listening to. Which, in my opinion, is very hard to find these days it reminds me of bands like The Band and Robin Trower who didn't put out albums with one or two good songs(a.k.a. singles) and then filled the rest of the album with filler, but rather focused on making the entire album worth listening to. Anyway, very good album definetly worth buying, and I can't wait for their sophmore effort.

I love looking for new trip hop/electronic music. However, when reading descriptions it is hard to make a decision as there are SO many options. Everyone says they sound like Massive Attack or Portishead. Here is an act that is one of my best discoveries in years. Unfortuantely for CD baby this CD has not been in stock for a very long time. I ended up getting it direct from the band at their website. Worth Every Penny!! And a free sticker to boot!!

If you are a music fan (and who isnt?) this is a MUST OWN CD. From beginning to end the music, intertwined perfectly with Jenna's amazing voice, will take you on a journey you will want to embark on over and over again. If you took the best parts of Portishead, Dido, Sarah McLaughlin and Hooverphonic and threw them together to make a CD, it might come close to sounding as good as Breathe In does. A perfect CD to just chill to. Buy this now...you will not be sorry.
