Gerry Beckley is best known as a founding member of the classic-rock band, America, whose catchy melodies, mellow acoustic sound and close harmonies have made it among the most endearing and enduring acts in rock. Van Go Gan is a reissue of the singer/songwriter's first solo album that includes 4 unlisted, hidden bonus tracks. The record was co-produced by Beckley with Hank Linderman. Guests on it include Carl Wilson (The Beach Boys), Timothy B. Schmit (The Eagles), Robert Lamm (Chicago), Windham Hill artist/ soundtrack composer Mark Isham and late great actor Phil Hartman (doing background voices as a televangelist).

It was wonderful playing his solo album for the first time and hearing Gerry singing on ALL the songs on the CD. His voice has an uplifting quality for me and I found much joy on this collection. Great songs!

Van Go Gan

After buying \"Horizontal Fall\" first I thought I would but Gerry\'s first solo album \"Van Go Gan\". I can not stop listening to it . The sounds and accoustics are tremendous. He is an amazingly gifted artist and I have met him after one of his concerts. He seems like a down to earth guy and I think he is so multi-talented that he should continue making music as long as he can. Keep singing Gerry!

Solid lyrics, tight back-up band, true to the America sound...with something new

Gerry Beckley does a great job of combining the spirit of America's - 'sounds from another time '- with his fresh new lyrics and music. The recording is crisp and clear and the back-up band is first rate. My only change would be to leave out the 'talking/comments' in between some of the songs. I would highly recommend this CD and hope to hear more from him in the future.

If you like America...............

you will like this CD. I am an original (1972!) fan of America and have every single release of theirs on CD. Although there were lulls in sales, there was never a lull in quality. Gerry's CD is wonderful. Both Gerry and Dewey are very distinctive and both can lay claim to America. Check out their new Here & Now CD (2007!) and you will find thet their music is as enjoyable today as it was in 1972!
