Album Notes

Currently a junior at a Christian University, Christian artist Becky Redels spent her childhood in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Music was an integral part of Becky's growing years as she was, even as a very young child, consistently aware of its appeal.

Notably inquisitive and philosophical, her longing to engage in private piano lessons was addressed at the age of six.

She studied the various aspects of voice and music with well-known teachers here in South Texas including David Hiser, Carmen Diaz-Walker, Beverly Naismith and Dr. Elwood Brown.

These lessons led to many local as well as state competitions in which she was very successful in expressing her inner peace and awe of the Lord.

Very active in her youth group at Church of Christ South, Becky began singing at the age of nine at church Christmas programs and various school and church choir programs throughout her youth.

She garnered many district, region and state awards as a private vocal and high school choir student.

Becky was also a recognized honor student, and graduated from Richard King High School a year early.

At 17, Becky began recording a compilation of popular, spiritual and Christian songs as a thank you present for friends and relatives as she graduated from King High School.

Trinity Recording Studio owner Jim Wilken was producing the "demo" album and was so taken with Becky's talent that he suggested she record a professional album and he would release it on Trinity Entertainment's record label.

The rest is history as they say.

The album was entitled "A String of Pearls Christian Treasures".

Her first single was a song entitled "Higher Love", which was written by Merrill Lane, a songwriter from Rockport, Texas who has written over 3000 songs for many of today's biggest stars.

"Higher Love" went all the way to number five on God's Country Music Chart.

The song was played worldwide and earned Becky the title "Gospel Artist of the Week" twice in the Netherlands.

The second song from her "A String of Pearls" album, "Mighty Hand", (also written by Merrill Lane) headed up the charts to number 2, second to renowned singers Johnny Cash and Joanne Cash Yates.

Becky's current album, "SOLID", was released in March 2001.

The album features more contemporary Christian songs, as well as songs with a mild country Christian flavor.

Her first release from the album, "Rock That Won't Roll", debuted in June 2001 and reached number 12 on the charts.

It is currently being heard overseas as well as here in the States.
