PRESS RELEASE - 2/16/06
So how does a band like Beddy Ford come together...
Beddy Ford fronted by singer/songwriter/producer Pete Masitti (Hootie and the Blowfish, Shakira, Julio Iglesias Jr.) kind of came together on it’s own. As Pete tells it “I had just finished producing Julio Jr’s record and we were auditioning guys for his touring band. We had about 25 guitarists, 20 drummers and 15 bass players audition. When we auditioned guitar players, Alex Garcia (Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Komet Amps) blew everyone else off the stage. The guy just burns on guitar and made most of the other guys (who were all good players in their own right) sound like amateurs. To pick our bassist and drummer we rotated guys in and out of the rhythm section and it was clearly evident that Juanka (Christian Castro) was the man for the bass spot. He’s very solid and has a real cool vibe on stage. There were several top notch drummers but Peter Vega (Desmond Child, Mick Jones, Butch Vig) proved his worth and took the drummers job by laying down some rock solid grooves with tasty fills. And so Julio had his band.”
Fast-forward about 6 months and the record industry is in chaos. Labels are merging and/or getting bought out left and right. Both long time and newly signed artists alike are getting released from their contracts as the record companies reorganize and downsize. Unfortunately, even after a few successful singles, Julio Jr. was released from his contract with Warner.
Alex Garcia filled in the next gap... “A good portion of Julio’s record were songs that Pete (Masitti) had cut in English on his second solo album “Turn Around” and so when Julio stopped touring I approached him (Pete) with the idea of putting something together.”
Masitti jumped back in at this point... “I had been working pretty exclusively in the studio for a few years and was itching to play again so I jumped on the opportunity. The band was great (they were all guys that I respected musically) and were just really cool people. After the first rehearsal, I knew we had something special and couldn’t let it go to waste. We started by putting together some of my old material and doing some shows and then progressed in to recording a new record. The end result is “Hollywood Ending”. It certainly has my writing style and vocal sound imprinted on it but each guy brought a lot to the table when it came to arranging the songs and so it’s truly a band project.”
Adds Pete Vega... “We wanted to make it (the record) sound like “us” on stage with a just a touch of studio gloss. We are all really proud of the project and look forward to recording more songs to add to the EP. We are currently shopping for a deal and gearing up to do some regional and national touring.”
Come and catch a show or pick up the CD and you’ll see why people are getting excited about Beddy Ford.

Even though my car rides get a good balance of NPR, FM Radio, CDs and Audiobooks, I find myself going back to this album as my "happy music." Whenever I need to just relax and enjoy the drive, this CD puts me in a good mood. Some of the songs are funny (listen to the lyrics), but the great thing is that you can tell the artists enjoyed putting this CD together. Thanks, you guys. I love it! :)

A good solid CD!

...as written previously, the tunes are written and recorded well. They have a really catchy hooks and I've had it spinning in my player's rotation since I got it! I brought the CD because of the sound clips from the Komet website of Alex Garcia. All in all, I enjoy the CD... could have used more of Alex's rippin' guitar, but
still a very good disk. Check it out!
