Helen Beedle is a classical pianist, and has a Master's degree from New England Conservatory. But the musical "feeling" on this CD isn't really classical: it's AMERICANA - music that America was hearing 140 years ago that you don't hear a lot of today. And it has its own special feeling.
Big News! The hit HBO series "BIG LOVE" licensed music from “When the Galop was the Rage” for its final dramatic episode of the 2006 season. The song “Lorena” is spotlighted in the episode and receives significant airplay. This translates into "Big Love" for Helen Beedle's discography.
National Park bookstores, the Smithsonian Institution and museums all over the country carry "When the Galop was the Rage". And it has received wonderful reviews from many media sources. Helen has been featured on PBS radio stations and performed on many festivals and music series, including the Spoleto Festival of music, art and dance in Charleston, SC.
Jonathan Beedle, the vocalist and guitarist on this CD is a video and film editor and producer for Acerra Group and is a songwriter and performer in the more popular vein! Look for his newly released CD "A Long Day Gone" on CD Baby!

This CD is first rate. An excellent knowledge of nineteenth century American key board music. Keen attention to historical accuracy but in the hands of a skilled musician like Helen Beedle the performance never comes across as stodgy or academic but rather bright, vibrant and musically pleasurable. Jonathan Beedle’s performance is like icing on the cake, a real added musical treat.
