Album Notes

Referred to by Performing Songwriter Magazine as “brilliant and incomparable”, by All The Rage as Nashville’s “It Band” and and by Music Row Magazine as the “Best Unsigned Band of the Year”, The Bees (U.S.) formed when producer Jason Lehning met singer/songwriter Daniel Tashian. Tired of predictable modern rock, they began to conceive a sound relying heavily on songwriting and harmonies. After finishing the recordings that would later become their debut album, Starry Gazey Pie, bootleg copies rapidly circulated among the band’s rapidly growing fan bass prompting The Nashville Scene to proclaim the record “2002’s most borrowed, least returned CD.” In anticipation of the official record release and the band’s SXSW showcase, the Austin Chronicle commented "as yet untitled, but near brilliant, is the upcoming debut from the Bees, a Nashville-based pop/roots outfit that's the brainchild of former T-Bone Burnett protégé Daniel Tashian.” Starry Gazey Pie was independently released in 2004 and at the request of the band Guster, The Bees (U.S.) signed on as their opening act for dates throughout the Northeast and Midwest. The album has received airplay from tastemakers such as WFNX in Boston and KCRW in Los Angeles, and was chosen by XM Radio’s The Loft for their 2005 Top Ten list. The band has recently wrapped recording for their sophomore release “High Society” which will be released in spring 2006. The Bees (U.S.) are Tashian on 12 string guitar and vocals; Lehning on piano, juno 60, vocals; John Deaderick on vocals and bass and David Gehrke on drums and vocals.

I'm a big fan of dreamy music, and this just tops the list. From start to finish, this cd feels like sleeping awake. Without a doubt, this is the best cd to come out in 2006. There really isn't anything negative I have to say.

Best album of 2006, definately

This album is fantastic. Beautiful nice pop songs, great instruments and of course Daniel's voice is the best ever. My favorites are Dream of Love (the climax is superb) and Catch Yer Own Train (how catchy can a song be). By far the best release of 2006.
