Album Notes

Born in Ohio, Chris Belden grew up listening to records bought by his parents & 5 older siblings, everything from the Beatles & the Monkees to Allan Sherman & the soundtrack to "The Magnificent Seven." For a long time he played the drums, including a stint in Joe Henry's band (that's him playing on Joe's debut album, "Talk of Heaven"), plus years playing in bars around Detroit & NYC. Years went by.

Chris wrote a novel ("Squirt"--find it at amazon.com!), a screenplay ("Amnesia", starring Ally Sheedy), & a slew of plays. Now he's recorded "Songs About Anything," 14 pop tunes refined in performance at various NYC venues, & featuring such groovy players as pianist John Hegner, drummer Aaron Comess (of the Spin Doctors!), guitarist Peter Calo (Carly Simon, Ben Taylor) & bassist Paul Aston. "This is a song about anything/I could be wrong, but there are no right answers. . ."

I heard you on NPR about 7Am, I was half asleep, and woke up after the first song to listen to the interview! You were gret on the radio, well spoken and funny-thats when I hit the internet and googled you and here I am! Nice sound, great lyrics-and I can't wait to get the CD. You have to come to DC someday!

Tender, touching, tongue in cheek, and just down right contagious. Every song is my current favourite, each listen reveals new layers. What's more - my wife loves it too! No more arguing over the car stereo..
