Almost Perfect............A-
author: Josh F.
The absence of that 5th star has absolutely NOTHING to do with the music. Merely some technical issues and running order of the songs. First of all, I don't know if it is the production, mastering, or the studio itself where "Man Down" was cut, but the sound quality just doesn't make the grade here. Muddy and sterile, this version of one of my favorite Bellevue tunes needs some TLC and possibly a re-release some time in the future. Go twiddle some more knobs and faders guys!!
Highlights include "Complacent", "Skin I'm In", and "Save Me". Let's face it kids. Michael Sean is one hell of a songwriter. Give "Complacent" a spin after that next fallout with your significant other and you'll understand EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Sean has a knack for tapping into that dark place inside the human psyche, where anguish AND hope lounge on the same couch. The Dark Side Of Enlightenment indeed!!
This CD rocks and rolls right along. Amazing guitar work from The Kid. Solid rhythm section.(Tony Lentz's bass melodies are spot-on perfect) And Michael Sean at the center of it all with that amazing voice.
It's a foot-tapping, head banging, sing-along for the masses!!! If you don't have it, YOU'RE WRONG!!
Good one guys!!
