Bellflur's music builds on the atmospheric sounds that band like God Speed! You Black Empreror and Sigur Ros have set forth. They mix this aesthetic with a taste of electronic experimentation in the Portishead tradition. Strongly stemming from the bass and keyboards, thier keen sense of melody is one of their greatest strengths, and their incorporation of it into their overall atmospheric ambiently cinematic sound sets them apart from other indie groups.
"Upon first listen, I was struck by the sophisticated layering of Bellflur's compositions. Lead singer Carlos Gonzalez whispers melodies in a Sam Prekop (The Sea and Cake) style, merely adding another sonic layer to the melodic keyboards of his brother Pedro. Although the LP is at times reminiscent of Sigur Ros and Pink Floyd, the group manages to impart a unique intimacy and vulnerability. "White Walls" sticks out as the most similar to Radiohead's post OK Computer work, while avoiding any sense of self-indulgence. "New Song" sports some spiffy Elvin Jones's A Love Supreme-style drumming. This is ambient post-rock for the masses, with beautiful melodies that will have you humming along well after you put down your iPod headphones."
