Album Notes

Ben Cosgrove has been writing instrumental songs since before he started losing baby teeth, and it's generally agreed that the music develops further and further with the release of each new CD. His latest effort, Kaleidoscope offers proof of Ben's breakthrough into the realm of definitive musical maturity, offering 12 (actually, 13) brand-new tracks with influences varying from pop to new age to rock to jazz.
Ben's music is also marked by the fact that he plays virtually every instrument on the album, an impressive feat considering the 20+ instruments that color songs like Treading Water or Undertow. In addition to serving as the album's sole architect and performer, Ben also helmed the record's production and art design.
Kaleidoscope sold 300 copies in its first 3 weeks of availability, and is being hailed as Ben's best work yet. Fans of the traditional new age piano music will find what they're looking for in songs like Treeline or Refraction, while Ben simultaneously delves into uncharted musical waters with songs like Mirror and Treading Water.
"The goal of the music," Ben says in an interview, "is to give you something to connect to. Instrumental music kind of has a leg up in that regard- it's designed for you to apply to your own life and your own experiences. If you can personally connect to my music, or anybody's art for that matter, it's definitely achieved the goal it was created for."
Ben also is an Aquarius and enjoys long walks on the beach.

I live in Ben's home town and had the opportunity to hear him speak and play a selection from his latest cd. He is an inspiration to young people and adults alike and his music is wonderful.

A friend of mine played this CD for me and I was so blown away by the breadth and depth of this young artist's talent that I had to buy a copy for myself. Musicians with an artistic vision to match their talent are very hard to find, but Ben Cosgrove is certainly one of them. "Kaleidoscope" is a gem.

I think it sounds GREAT but I think Ford's review was biased and retarded. Much like him, Ford don't review things until you review your life. GREAT CD Ben keep it up, very nicely written pieces! =D
