Album Notes

Kenneth Higney and his label, Kebrutney Records, present New York City's King of Anti-Folk: JOE BENDIK From Rock N Roll to Hip Hop & Country Blues;  Anti-Folk to Pop filtered through a Punk Rock sensibility. Tying it all together are BENDIK's incisive lyrics which cut through genres and cut things down to size. Joe BENDIK and (his band at the time, "Folk You") moved to NYC in the mid 1980s and gravitated to the Anti-Folk scene. Along with being one the earliest proponents of Anti-Folk, Folk You played gigs with Beck, John S. Hall (King Missile), Michelle Shocked, Paleface, Lach, and others. In the 90's, Joe won the title of "King Of Anti-Folk" and has been playing headline shows The Fort (@ the East Village fixture Sidewalk) ever since. In April '97, he was chosen to perform for BMI's Acoustic Roundup along with performing in CMJ showcases. Bendik was recently featured (along with Beck, Ani Difranco  & Dan Bern) on Canada's Much Music TV's "The New Music" His recorded music (he's the Multi-Instrumentalist/producer/ engineer type) & live performances  (with his current backing band "The Heathens") are starting to get attention from the print media (Alternative Press: Sound Views; CMJ)
