Album Notes

Imagine a late night cab ride that leaves you on the corner of Sounds and Words, the point where you leave the comfort of silence and enter a collage of sounds past and present, and you catch a glimpse of the future.

A mesmorizing guitar drifts from a noisy club and meets drums and bass in tune as one, propelling a rhythmic bliss met at once by a voice of uncommonly life-like feel. You feel the voice in that moment; you've heard it in a morning dream just as you are hearing it on a lively night like this. The transparency of life and sound float over each other as the hypnotic pulse coming through the door draws you closer.

Melody rises and transforms into an explosive, uplifting chorus that grabs your senses and wraps itself around your soul in the manner that Music is intended. Your hunger for it surfaces, and you find you want more.

The sound leaves you entranced, tugging at you as the foursome continues its journey. You suddenly feel you are living its compelling sound, and it's something unlike anything you've heard.

What you are experiencing begins and ends at a sonic crossroad. It is a sound with shape etching a curve on the musical roadmap of now. Ben Jenkins (guitar, vocals), Jay Cates (Vocals, guitar), Sean Shacklett (drums) and Jefferson Bennett (bass) are on the horizon. It is a sound unique and bold. All eyes see something distinctively different. All ears are tuned in. It is now. Bend.

REVIEWS

These guys rock!
author: Jim
Saw these guys playing a bar down in Pioneer Square, Seattle but forgot to find out who they were before I left! They left such an impression on me though, I spent the next day tracking down the band name so I could buy their stuff! Better live than recorded in my opinion, but they still kick ass.

Wow! (wowed in minor)
author: Mianek
Definitely one of the five best albums of 2003. 50 minutes of harmonic melancholy, straight old-school indiesound and a strong voice (never whimpering, though). All in all Carpooltunnel almost sounds European, never mind Seattle. Makes long, cold and dark winternights worth while.

LUSHLY TEXTURED
author: Bruce Lomet (CHINASKI)
Lushly textured guitars, infectious rock grooves, and lyrical instensity are the staples of Bend - this is a CD of songs that keep on pumping in your head long after the album is finished.
