Welcome to the realm of Benign. A world where international affairs and private affairs are blurred and indistinct. Where the fears of the world can touch you and where yours can touch the world. Where there is shadow and the enemies are unrecognised.
...And where there is hope.
You recognise this world.
It is your world.
And this is how it goes...
Benign is the studio project of musician Tim Goodacre who resides in London, UK. The music is the product of a fusion of styles, from the dark electronic pop-rock twistings of Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode to the subtle musings of contemporary masters like Elbow and David Sylvian. Benign forges a new style that refuses to be categorised: drawn from many influences, from rock, pop, and world-music heritage, melded together for a fresh sound.
"Diaries of Love and War" is the debut album by Benign. It is a brooding affair, exploring the darker side of love in the unsettled age of terrorism and corporate decay. A journey through these times, the listener is transported through 11 tracks of passion, pain, and hope. The album was 3 years in the making and features guest performances by Peter Yttergren and Neil Bonfield.

About time
author: Tony Murphy
It's about time I reviewed this album. It's crap!
Seriously, though, this is one of the most original pieces of work I've heard in a very long time. This is genuinely progressive music (not prog!) and will appeal to many. From the dark streams of Protocol and Dance of the Dead, to the absolutely sublime Cambridge Circus (my current favourite song ever), this album will grab you by the nadgers and won't let go. Tim is not just one of my favourite musicians but, since purchasing this album, I have had the pleasure of meeting him several times, and he has become one of my favourite people. This album is a true reflection of the man. Uncompromising in his musical choices and in his view of the world, he would be destined, in a different world, to be a true superstar. Unassuming, intelligent, erudite and truly an all-round magnificent bloke.
