A unique sounding voice, coupled with a fresh approach to a reasonably untapped genre. A big man with a good voice and great range
A man with a dream for as long as he can remember. That dream came true in February 2004, when he was afforded the opportunity to record his first album. He came from humble beginnings, and had to fight his way open in life. Music has always carried him through in the bad times. Born in 1973 in South Africa, he was raised as part of a broken home, and has experienced many heartaches and heartbreaks in his life. Coupled with ambition and a will to succeed, he went ahead and, against all odds, created what has been hailed as a masterpiece in South African music. He is not done yet, his Debut album, Guiding Light, was released in South Africa on February 12, 2005, and is making serious headway in the music world locally. Good effort...but not great.
author: STEINWAYBOI
I really want to like this. It's clear that Ben put effort into making this project and the songs must have a personal meaning to him. Unfortunately, whatever passion he has for the music is lost in the generic Karaoke background tracks and strained/nervous sounding vocals.
With more confidence, this album may be something, but as a commercial release, this could have been better thought out and produced. Maybe the future will hold more for this passionate musician, but more practice and performance strength is needed.
