Benny K
Benny K was born in Bogotá Columbia and raised in Staten Island New York. With an incredible voice, hot lyrics, and original dance moves, Benny K started writing at 16 and started recording a little after his 17th birthday. At the age of only 17, he completed his first solo project, a 9 track original EP titled The Prelude. With a very small portion of his budget going to marketing and promotion, he generated an intense buzz mostly through word of mouth. His EP sold several hundred copies in its first week on a limited release. He has captured the local market, working on independent film soundtracks, showcases, and college radio. Benny is also a member of an award winning, nationally competing dance group. They tour 2-4 times a year and never finish lower than 2nd place. Benny is determined to take over the world of R&B and still stay true to his neo-soul roots, but more than anything he wants to make the kind of music that invokes emotion in the listener. He is influenced heavily by artists such as Musiq Soulchild, Usher, Boyz 2 Men, Michael Jackson, Donnie Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder. His voice could be classified as both Pop and Soul. His lyrics have clarity and passion, and his infectious hooks are always delivered with an elegant simplicity and an equally eloquent vision.

I have witnessed his talent firsthand
author: Corey R
Aside from being in the choir with Benny K and hearing his amazing vocals his CD justifies his talent. Every song on "The Prelude" has its distinct sound which is very rare with R&B artists in todays day. One song that sticks out to me the most is "Work it Out". I like the touch with the guitar very uncommon this this genre of music. Benny's voice is very rich and soulful but can still hit any high note. He used vibrado to its complete use, but never overdoes it. The most brilliant aspect of this CD is the fact that all lyrics are written by himself as well as the production. I will be looking forward to his second CD which I feel will not be a sophmore slump.

Powerful Music
author: Ezekiel Whitmore
This record takes me back to the 90's when music was more fresh and innovative. The wonderfully soulful vocal arrangements compliment the production witch has a noticeable pop influence, yet retains a certain grittiness to it displayed on songs like twisted, Benny croons effortlessly over the bassy roar of the kick drum and riffs with prodigious breath control over the staccato beats of "So high". He seems to be most comfortable on mid tempo ballads like "On the train" and "All night strong" where the almost eclectic mix of Pop and Soul in his refreshingly original voice blends perfectly with the 4-part harmony making it extremely palatable to the ear. On "Work it out” the subtle guitar riffs are the perfect backdrop to his expressive lyrics, a heartfelt plea to the love in his life saying "you don’t want to go as much as I want you to stay" witch anyone who's ever been in love can relate to. Most impressive is the fact that there are noticeably no background vocals on this up-tempo ballad, and Benny carries the entire song on his warm soulful tones. I cant say enough about this record, From the moment it opens with the title track "The Prelude" Benny Proves he has the versatility and talent to be the next big thing. I noticed he wrote 99% of the album, a very rare and extraordinary thing to see in the industry nowadays. Seeing as this is only his first record I am personally blown away. Can't wait to see where he takes us on his next effort.

The CD was definitely hot. The vocals are the deal and the production is tight...what else can you ask for? If this is just his first album, I am definitely looking forward to his sophomore cd!! I'll tell anyone to cop this cd, as long as you don't have a problem with the melodies popping into your head without warning. LOL.
