A native of eastern North Carolina, Ben Roberts graduated with degrees in music and music performance from various Midwestern institutions, and currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. During his travels through the country, he has acquired a variety of non-musical job skills as well, including: assembling cookies in cookie tins, landscaping with "scented" mulch, and collaborating with fear-mongering techs on Y2K projects. He plays in classical orchestras, and genres ranging from Irish rebel, to jazz, alt-country, bluegrass, and traditional Arabic.

Compelling and Cool
author: Star Bender
This is a compelling mix of musical flavors. Ben is an extraordinary improvisational violinist with an ear for producing interesting melodies. The styles and moods have the ingredients to draw you in and keep in the groove. Refraction's violin solo rips in an experimental fashion. The song entitled Divide and Rule has the Arabic sound yet the groove and background make it into something modern and mysterious. End of History's violin solo has all the nice fuzz and wah effects often found on guitar and it rocks. A Civilized People has a ripping solo. Walking In The Park could be a television theme song with it's nice funky groove. Nice work all the way down to Three Headed Snake.
