A Dutchman raised in the Caribbean, Jan Benschop made his recording debut in April of 2000. But he's been pleasing a wide audience since 1968, with ethereal songwriting, clean vocals, and articulate acoustic guitar techniques.
With "Different Places... Different Spaces," Jan touches the gamut of emotions.
He was born in exotic Sumatra, moved to Curaçao, and finally emigrated to the States. At one time or another, Jan has opened for John Denver, Barry Manilow, and Peter, Paul & Mary. His adventures in many diverse locations and his dramatic personal experiences inspired the music on this CD. Jan hopes that you will be transported for a while, to "Different Places... Different Spaces," where he's been. On it, he presents folk, Jazz, Caribbean/World, Celtic, blues, and Americana.
