Album Notes

Jonathan Bentley has covered a lot of ground since the 2003 release of his critically celebrated debut, Estuary : Spain, Morocco, a fishing boat in Alaska, his native Ozarks, and miles upon miles of traveling across the U.S.A. playing his unique gypsy-folk-hillbilly music. Be it through his transcendent lyrics or exotic open guitar tuning, you get to travel with him on his follow-up CD, Sue. The ensemble arrangements on his debut have been reduced to a small cast of supporting musicians (some performances are just vocal and guitar) creating a closer, quieter, more intimate feel than his debut. “Sue is just an idea that I keep in my head,” Bentley sings on the title track. This eternal longing is the fuel of great art. This is great art, and Sue is an album that will definitely keep well in your head.
Featuring the talents of Dallas Jones, Mark Bilyeu, Molly Healey, Brandon Moore, Reed Herron and Kunti Senesi.
