Album Notes

I recorded this record in the house where I grew up in the small town of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. After sorting through hundreds of pages and nearly two years worth of written lyrics and music, I chose these 9 nine songs to represent the beginning of a musical journey.

Over a two week period, I recorded during long mornings that turned into afternoons, and then long afternoons that turned into night. I played every note--every strum of the guitar, every drone of the banjo, every pluck of the ukulele--to create this musical landscape; one less concerned with perfection and more with change and the uncertainty that comes with it. A question of what it means to return home after being away for so long. A question for which there are no obvious answers.

The result is honesty, as closely I could convey it through music. I hope you can hear--and even feel--that honesty when you listen to this record.
