notes
Even though there's a melancholy to [the] words, there's always an overriding optimism...A New England somberness fought by the beauty of the London underground which eventually crystallizes into something remarkably uplifting.

Michael Berkowitz's lyrically and rhythmically driven songs are "reminiscent of early works by We're About 9 or Dave Carter." Based in Reston, VA by way of Columbia, MD and Oberlin, OH, Michael has become an active member of the Washington DC/Baltimore live music scene, as a performer and open mic host.
In November 2007 Michael made his first appearance at NERFA as part of the Folk DJ's Choice Showcase, and in February 2008 released his first full-length CD, "A Song For Every Station." Produced by Jeff Romano (Devon Sproule, Paul Curreri), the CD features performances by Pat Wictor, Cheryl Prashker, and We're About 9.
[Michael's] lyric-driven songs are reminiscent of early works by Eliot Bronson, We're About 9 or Dave Carter.
