Be prepared to fall hard for this CD.

Ms. Berman makes the hair on your arms stand up as the first gorgeous, thick as molassas, round notes make their way around the melody on "Grace in Me". If you are not slightly dizzy as you listen to her graceful melodic dance,you are not alive. She has a double blessing- amazing sense of tone, melody, improvisation, and then the voice to communicate it with. We all buy CD's hoping we will find that one that will have us madly in love with it- and the Ist track told me I was in that dangerous place where I can't stop hitting the repeat button long enough to hear the rest of the CD! When I finally got to track two- uh oh - here we go again! About 3 minutes into the second track she flips the melody on it's side and brings out new colors, like she's turning the camera angle on the song.(Not easy to give that impression!) Catchy enough to be jazzy pop- but full of evidence a serious musician is delivering it. I'm being rewarded for paying attention. The entire Cd is magic. If you are deciding whether to buy it, buy it. Just brace yourself for elation. I love this CD.

Stellar debut from a naturally talented songstress.

'Love Will' showcases the genre-traversing talents of Laura Berman so smoothly, you'll hardly recognize how many different styles are touched upon by the record's completion. Beginning with the hooky piano pounding of the positively worded 'Grace In Me', Berman nails it. 'Call Me Yours' (pleasantly reminiscent of a good Jonatha Brooke tune) provides a wonderfully produced bridge to the title track which, while seeming a bit of a departure from her usual earthy goodness, quite successfully draws in the listener with some sexy and definitely danceable pop rhythms and presentation. You'll sing along once you know the words. The album moves on to episodes of sparse instrumentation ('Acrobat')which showcase the power of the young woman's muscular but sensual vocal weaving, to the Nashville-tinged AAA offering 'Sweet Soulmate' (the sleeper hit on the disc). After being impressed by her bare and honest live performances, this reviewer can say that Laura Berman has upped the ante with the release of this record. Comparisons may abound for those left speechless by the girl's talent, but I prefer to be refreshed by her originality. Now if someone would just put this stuff on the radio, maybe I'd listen to it.
