Being a rock musician usually means that you must give up any shot at being truly artistic at the cost of being really loud and thunderous. Not so, says Beryl Grady. They offer "THE HANGOVER SESSIONS" up as evidence. This is one of the most artistic rock albums I've heard in years. Stevie MuRee uses her flute, guitar, and flawless vocals to accent this well-produced project. Multiple influences are evident throughout the disc, as MuRee baffled us here in the office when we were trying to pin down a sound-alike artist. Many names came up; Ann Wilson, Aimee Mann, Lita Ford, Annie Lennox and a few others, but the consensus was that Stevie MuRee must be the love-child of Chrissie Hynde and Geddy Lee. (Okay, RUSH and Pretenders fans, you've finally got new material to buy.) Don Rosecrans emerges as the best supporting cast member on drums, winged by the very capable team of Martin Butler on lead guitar and Mike Horan on bass. Out front, Stevie MuRee is the shining star of this constellation. This is the best female-led rock album of 2002, hands down. - MyTexasMusic.com
