Album Notes

Bethany Curve was formed in Santa Cruz, California in 1994. Introducing their long standing motto, "Atmostphere | Arrangement | Sound | Layering | Noise", the band has stuck to it without distraction. Over the last several years, Bethany Curve have released 5 records with both Unit Circle of Seattle and Kitchen Whore Records of California. Bethany Curve's music is best described as strange, complex, and often melancholy.

Bethany Curve's 5th record, Flaxen, takes the band's dreamy yet intricate guitar sound to a new level. Each song has its own storyline, containing unexpected twists and turns, fused with well-matched male vocals. This record contains some interesting song dynamics that take you from blissful melodies, to noise, to rock and roll. A sure thing for any fan of Shoegaze/Dream-pop!

This cd was the reason i got to know this site, cdbaby. I was looking for some bethany curve cds and lo and behold, i find this nice place. So, about flaxen, well, i think the samples just dont make justice to the whole beauty of the sonic landscape this cd offers you. Its a great cd to listen while you are driving through a calm forest...o maybe while you are trying to write and there's a storm outside... love this cd. Really love it.

Fantastic

A truly superb CD, bringing forth 26 minutes of incredible dreamy soundscapes. Listen to it with your eyes closed and let the music transport you to another place. Strong similarities to Labradford are worth noting - not a bad thing by any means. I highly recommend this for all fans of Dreampop/Shoegaze and related musical styles.
