“This Little Piggy” is Beth Waters' follow up release to her award
winning 2004 “Beth Waters” debut album. Critics are already hailing
Waters new collection of 11 tracks containing 10 original songs and
a definitive cover version of Paul Simon's 1977 hit, Slip Slidin' Away.
With striking and poetic lyrics, Waters takes your hand and leads
you on a musical journey through stories of human frailty, longing,
disappointment and the vulnerability of love.
The album's title track This Little Piggy is a disturbing tale told in first
person about a young girl longs to escape an abusive home; she is
only held back by the fear that the younger sister she'd leave behind
would assume the abuse. Even in her darkest musings, Waters never
fails to inject hope into her songs evident when she sings This Little
Piggy's, “I've got a little suitcase full of my dreams. I'm gonna think
hard of the person I could be.”
Each song on the album illustrates Waters wonderfully complex
perspective on life that she exposes through characters and intimate
narrative. Yet for each song, the messages she conveys are simple and
truthful. Ending her album's journey with a delicate piano and voice
rendition of Paul Simon's Slip Slidin' Away was an obvious choice
as Waters sings the song as if it was her own.
“This Little Piggy” includes brilliant musical performances by Todd
Sickafoose (Ani DiFranco), Stephen Prutsman (Kronos Quartet), Eamon
Flynn (Spearhead, Koko Taylor) and Kevin White (Chuck Prophet,
Shelby Lynne). Five tracks on the album including the first single
White Dogs in the Moonlight were mixed by Grammy Award Winning
mix engineer Joe Chiccarelli (Frank Zappa, U2, Tori Amos).
The album was produced by Michael Winger (Jump Little Children,
Tim Bluhm).

Simply Amazing!
author: SWO
Her voice is hauntingly beautiful! The songs are rich, sophisticated, and very moving both musically and lyrically. This is one of my favorite albums (if not my favorite). I can't believe that she is not more well known than she is. I truly appreciate her artistry, and I truly think you cannot compare her to any other musician as she has no equal. I am shocked she isn't more well known.

BETH WATERS RELEASES ANOTHER GEM OF A CD
author: BCP "OSU Buckeyes"
Beth has followed up her truly remarkable Beth Waters self-titled CD with another phenomenal effort. I couldn't recommend Beth highly enough to anyone who is a fan of the female singer/songwriter genre of Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Vienna Teng, Charlotte Martin, and others. She has a gorgeous voice, plays the piano beautifully, and writes powerful yet touching lyrics. I cannot imagine that you will ever regret picking up this CD or her self-titled CD. Enjoy!!!
