You Take the Wheel is a solo acoustic project in which Beth asked fans to vote on the songs they would most like to hear in an acoustic setting. This release highlights Beth's solid work as a strong, dynamic solo artist. People were always asking -- why doesn't she have a CD that sounds like her live show?? So for all you folks who love the folky, solo acoustic sound, this one is for you! Produced by the great Chris Rosser.
Beth Wood is a modern-day troubador, barefoot singer, award-winning songwriter, powerful vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, shameless harmonizer, poet, and communicator of joy.
After studying classical piano, violin, voice, and harp and earning a degree in Literature from University of Texas at Austin, Beth decided to throw caution (and her day-job) to the wind and become a full-time troubadour. Thirteen years, thousands of shows, seven albums, three cars, and numerous awards later, she has never looked back. Beth's exceptional musicianship, crafty songwriting, and warm stage presence have been winning over audiences from coast to coast. She now lives in Eugene, Oregon and tours nationally playing listening rooms, coffee shops, bars, festivals, houses, and the occasional yoga studio. Beth has won many awards, including the Kerrville New Folk award, and has released 7 CDs, her latest of which is called “Beachcomber’s Daughter”.
Beth also loves sports, and one of her weird hobbies is performing the National Anthem. She has done so at several major sporting events, including Texas Rangers Major League Baseball (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), Dallas Mavericks NBA Basketball (2004), and several minor league baseball and hockey events.
Beth says… "I feel blessed to have the opportunity to make music for a living! I want to continue making music I believe in, and to continue spreading the word about independent music. For me this journey is not just about the music - it's about the connections we make through music and recognizing the importance of art throughout our lives."
