Album Notes

Produced by Beth and the great Chris Rosser, Marigolds is slightly twangy (showing Beth's Texas roots), slightly folky (showcasing Beth's gentle touch and her storytelling) and slightly rockin' (celebrating the beat for goodness sake). Marigolds celebrates the spirit of collaboration as Beth is joined by many of her talented friends including River Guerguerian, Eliot Wadopian, Heather Morgan, Josh Lamkin, Greg Horne, Shawn Mullins, Brandon Bush (Train, Sugarland), John Felty, and more!

Beth Wood is a modern-day troubador, barefoot singer, award-winning songwriter, powerful vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, shameless harmonizer, poet, and communicator of joy.

After studying classical piano, violin, voice, and harp and earning a degree in Literature from University of Texas at Austin, Beth decided to throw caution (and her day-job) to the wind and become a full-time troubadour. Thirteen years, thousands of shows, seven albums, three cars, and numerous awards later, she has never looked back. Beth's exceptional musicianship, crafty songwriting, and warm stage presence have been winning over audiences from coast to coast. She now lives in Eugene, Oregon and tours nationally playing listening rooms, coffee shops, bars, festivals, houses, and the occasional yoga studio. Beth has won many awards, including the Kerrville New Folk award, and has released 7 CDs, her latest of which is called “Beachcomber’s Daughter”.

Beth also loves sports, and one of her weird hobbies is performing the National Anthem. She has done so at several major sporting events, including Texas Rangers Major League Baseball (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), Dallas Mavericks NBA Basketball (2004), and several minor league baseball and hockey events.

Beth says… "I feel blessed to have the opportunity to make music for a living! I want to continue making music I believe in, and to continue spreading the word about independent music. For me this journey is not just about the music - it's about the connections we make through music and recognizing the importance of art throughout our lives."

Beth is the real thing - a great songwriter, a gifted guitar player, together with a voice that can melt butter. This CD is one of my favorites. It can proudly sit on the shelf with James Taylor and Shawn Colvin. Love ya Beth!

Another gem from Beth Wood

I've been a huge fan of Beth Wood ever since I saw her live at the University of Delaware about 7 or 8 years ago, and I have (and love) all of her CDs. Just when I thought she couldn't get any better, out comes Matigolds. I think that I can honestly say that there is not a single song on this album that I don't love. Now I can't wait for her next album!
