Album Notes
The revival of TAKE ME ALONG first began in Connecticut at the Goodspeed Opra house. It was so well received that Kennedy Center wanted to produce it in Washington DC, where it ran to sell out audiences. The review were great and subsequently we moved to the Martin Beck Theatre in April of 1985. I don't think I was ever happier in my long career. The company of TAKE ME ALONG was so talented and we got along so well it was like family. I'm sure it'll be a surprise to you to learn that I did not sing a song in this Broadway show. I only acted the part of the mother Essie. TAKE ME ALONG was based on the play AH WILDERNESS by Eugene O'Neill. One of my dreams was to appear in a Broadway show, even though I didn't sing. What you're hearing now is my person rendition of the song "Take Me Along"
