Bet Williams has an electrifying voice and high energy performing style unmatched by most contemporary female artists today. With the release of her fourth full length CD, Rose Tattoo, on Epiphany Records, she is quickly becoming a prominent figure in the singer/songwriter, folk and pop world.
After developing a cult following at Penn State in the late 80's, Bet packed up her poetry degree and a handful of songs to take them on the road. From House of Blues and the Troubadour in Los Angeles -to the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and The Bottom Line in New York City, she's shared the stage with artists as diverse as Joan Osborne, Arlo Guthrie, John Gorka, and Baba Olatunji. Bet was also a finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas for New Folk; an honor shared by Lucinda Williams, Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett.
A passionate, dynamic performer, Bet's powerful voice can be earthy one moment and angelic the next. Songs like the bluesy "Killed My Man" show a strong, soulful style while the highly infectious "Ooh La La" demonstrates her ability to craft a powerful hook. Other songs like "Rose Tattoo" or "When I Was Yours" reveal a more sensitive artist. And "Mary", a song about a woman "working the bucket" (panhandling), show Bet's compassion and gift for storytelling.
As GUITAR ONE magazine put it, "A mover and shaker on the club and coffeehouse scene for more than 10 years, Bet Williams seems primed to hit the big time. She's blessed with all the right stuff: a fantastic voice, a talent for songwriting, good musicianship and a charismatic stage presence.. All in all you can bet on hearing more from this artist in the future."

rocks pretty seriously
author: Daily Freeman, New York
While Bet Williams may be described as a singer/songwriter, don't let that fool you into thinking she's lightweight. On the contrary, Williams' latest CD "Rose Tattoo" rocks pretty seriously. The emphasis is on rootsy, blues-influenced music that showcases her four-octave powerhouse voice. Her lyrics are at once thought-provoking and humorous, poetic and passionate.
