Memorable melodies - Great CD!!!!
author: R. Putt
This CD has many songs with wonderful, memorable melodies. After listening to the CD several times, I found myself humming some of the melodies for days. Five of the songs on this CD are especially good. My favorites are CAN YOU HEAR ME? which is simply beautiful and FRAIL which has a great guitar solo and a haunting melody. DID I EVER TELL YOU? has both a beautiful melody and harmonies. I love the old fashioned sound and the fun kazoo in BELLS RINGING. I also really enjoyed the Eqyptian-like sound of BURNING RHYMES. I'm really glad I got this CD. It is a great listen.

Catchy,Haunting,Bouncy...did I mention catchy?
author: K. Prescot Scoville,MD, self-proclaimed musicologist
I’m not sure what you’d call this...independent multi-instrumentalist folk rock maybe? Anyway, I like it a lot. The only problem I had was maybe they shouldn’t have put two slower songs back-to-back near the beginning of the disk, as it disrupts the ebb and flow a little bit. (But not enough to knock off a star!) So, let me see if I can give a rundown and keep it short per CD Baby’s review guidelines....the opening (and title) track will have you tapping your foot and wanting to sing along in no time. The second track,Ujjayi, though slower, is still catchy with a melody that will stick in your head. This is followed by another slower number “‘Til you we Gone”, which I could easily envision being played on the radio, despite the fact that it’s what they wanted to play, and not what some clueless, fat-cat record executive told them to play! Anyhoo, next up is one of my favorite tracks, “Bells Ringing”. Love the old-timey vocal sound. In fact, think maybe they should find a song from the 20's,30's or 40's to cover on their next effort. (Though, that cost extra money unless you can find one that’s become public domain). “Can You Hear Me?” Has-quite fittingly-a very haunting melody and some great viola work. “Devil in the Details” is the most rocking song on the platter, and caps off with a Claptonesque a-la Cream era solo from David Bell, which is cut off on the Cd Baby MP3 sample. In fact, most of Dave’s very good, played-for-the-song solos are cut off from the samples.(but that’s just the incoherent early-morning rambling of a guitar player going, “Hey...more guitar!”) Next up is another hard to classify tune, “Burning Rhymes”, in which for some reason the lyrics are a bit difficult to decipher, even though the vocals can be clearly heard. But don’t let that stop you, lest you miss the excellent flute/viola showdown between guest musicians Sara Bell and Felix Moxter. (No mistaking that exotic-scale vocal interlude melody either!) Once again, a two minute sample simply is not enough to do justice to “Frail”, ditto “Winter”, Dave’s instrumental guitar showcase piece. “Eyes of a Child” reminds me sort of a mid 80's power ballad. I can almost hear Journey or Heart doing something like it. Things round off with “Did I Ever Tell You?”, a song that, despite having it’s germination from a seed of sadness, blossomed into quite a catchy, bouncy tune with an infectious, palm-trees-swaying-on-a-sunny-beach Carribean beat, and another tune I think could easily make radio play.....Well folks, that was my attempt at explaining the unexplainable. Hope I explained it! Check out some samples and take a gamble. Glad I did ! :D
