Album Notes

The first release of this Massachusetts based band is a rich mix of traditional, contemporary and original Celtic music. This CD has is all. Great vocal harmonies, strong instrumentation and the trademark Beyond The Pale groove that has their Merrimac Valley fans buzzing. This collection of tunes will please everyone from the diehard traditional songbook fan to those seeking out great contemporary Celtic tunes.

This is the original lineup of Beyond The Pale which features founding members Chales Landry on FIDDLE, Glenn Arlequeeuw on DRUMS and PERCUSSION, and Joe Hanley on MANDOLIN. On rhythm GUITAR is Gregg Decoteau and on BASS guitar is Dana Dempski, both have since ventured into other areas of music.

Check out the AUDIO SAMPLES and hear this tremendous band for yourself and then check out their newly released 2nd CD titled MOVIN' ON also for sale on CDBaby. MOVIN' ON shows the development of Beyond The Pale and features six original tunes.

I love these guys!

This CD is great. It makes you want to just grab a pint and get up and dance! I want to hear BTP play, "Whisky in the Jar". :)

I feel like I'm in a Boston bah!

The album immediately jumps into a classic sea chanty (The Timberwind) and brings to mind why I still consider myself a New Englanduh, even though now I live in LA. Songs like (When will we be Married Molly) certainly show off Charles Landry's fiddle. The band's version of Babba O'Reilly by the Who, with Glenn Arlequueuw on the bahdran, can be used as an alarm clock in the morning to get your blood a-boiling! A version of (Golden Golden) is there too, and if you ever wanna swoon a lady guys, I suggest you play this one for her...(I just learned it on guitar, and m'lady thought that was so cool!) I think this album is the one that finally got me off my duff to look for a tin whistle so I could play along. This album hits close to home for me, and I'm glad (a certain nameless lady) gave me a copy, although it is definitely worth the small pricetag and then some! Good stuff, BTP!

Bring the pub home with you.

Raucous at times, mellow and introspective at others, and always passionate, check this one out. You can't miss the cover of the Who's Babba O'Reilly (simply great!). Other favorites include The Raggle Taggle Gypsy-o, Celtic Swing and The Irish Washer Woman, among others. It could use a few more swinging, toe-tapping gems like these, but who's complaining? Check out their other album too, Moving 'On. That one won't leave my CD player. See you at the Claddagh!!
