Album Notes

In addition to guitarist/composer/songwriter B.G. McPike, Bluephoria features Carolyn Dutton (stage violinist in Broadway's Tony Award-winning cast of 'The Grapes of Wrath') and 18 year-old Solly Burton (2007 Winfield National Mandolin Champion and NPR "From the Top" performer). Guitarist Dan Sumner also appears on four tracks with some vintage electric gear to delivery some sweet and crunchy sounds on his ES 335, and the rhythm tandem of Eric Schatz and John DiCenso (bass & drums) expertly groove and color the soundscape. This album takes the listener on a musical journey to some unpredictable destinations - from an Indiana street festival, to a rekindling flame in cyberspace, to the sinster world of troubling spirits, to a horseback ride, and finally into Bluephoria, where many of the satisfying elements of Blues, Country, Rock, and Jazz converge in songs that come from personal sources yet retain a timeless and universal appeal.

REVIEWS

Excellent album of original pieces by top musicians with an abundance of talent

BG McPike and the Haute Club have done it again - and this is even better than their last excellent work (Smooth Landing)! The whole album is great, and I especially dig Free to Be Me, Pardon Me and Workhorse. The musicians are all at the top of their game, the lyrics are clever and catching, and BG's voice makes you feel like you're living the story being told.
