Album Notes

Their latest CD "the other side of paradise" is a work of "modern rock" with a hint of retro! This indie rock band struggles to give any positive message as their clever lyrics twist through poetic caverns and dark alleys! Yet their music lifts you up to amazing vistas, balancing what is inevitably normal.

Bicycle Mary is Tim Lynch (guitar, vocals), Bill Alberts (bass, vocals), and Rick Sullivan (drums, vocals). With a little help from some new and old friends (special thanks to Tony Levin for his bass performance on "think about you" and "circle"), Bicycle Mary is pleased to bring you "the other side of paradise"!

CD Review - May 30, 2004
* Whichever Other Side Of Paradise this CD may represent, Bicycle Mary's CD is spot on in pop/rock paradise. This is Beatlesque, British, Bacharach influenced pop a la Gin Blossoms, but with more intelligence and less formula.

It is perfect for your musical Atkins plan. There is no added sugar and no filler carbs, just meat and nutritious well-crafted grooves and melodies.

It's tight and well played and there are real human musicians discernable here, not just drum loops and the same gimmicky effects you keep hearing. This trio puts out music as catchy but more interesting than what you get fed from the radio these days.

And unlike Hootie and the Blowfish, with whom they have shared the stage, Bicycle Mary's songs all sound distinct from each other! Take your stale pop CD's to the second hand store and make space on your CD shelf for Bicycle Mary instead.

* The minute I put their new CD in I knew I'd love it. It's great. My head started to move without permission. The music is awesome but not too popish. The words rock. These songs lead me to believe they have the potential to go very, very far in the music industry.

* "bicycle mary is upbeat, energetic and strangely comforting." Michael Landrio / The Buzz
