notes

For None To Claim is Harris Bierhoff's debut album recorded from January 2000-June 2000 in Pittsburgh, PA.

'This album was inspired by the way I felt affected by the city of Pittsburgh, in the way that it desperately wants to keep young people there but has very little to offer them. Pittsburgh's music scene in particular had nothing to offer me, and so I chose to record my CD and leave.' --Harris Bierhoff

Featured on this album are Harris Bierhoff on guitar, harmonica, piano, MIDI, cell phone, and vocals, Matthew Meldrum on bass guitar, and Nick Crano (also the drummer for the local Pittsburgh group Red Stone Mathis) on drums.

  • YIRUSHALAYIM!!!!!!!!
    author: Yaron Rabin

Harris Bierhoff takes the Israeli National Anthem and makes it stripped down rock and roll! Long live Jerusalem!!!!!

  • Great songs!
    author: Doug Strugess

These are some well-written songs. Tiananmen 1989 made me think of my study abroad trip to China, and wish I could have been there four years earlier to join the rebellion! I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for this guy. He's going to be huge!

  • Good stuff, but angry
    author: Patricia Brewster

I think that the difference between this CD, and Harris' live performances is the emotional angle. This CD seems to be an expression of mostly rage, even behind some songs which don't seem to be rageful at first (Tiananmen 1989, Ride The Light, etc.). Harris in person is much more peaceful, and his voice seems more melodic than angry. Come out with a more current CD, Harris!

  • I love your voice
    author: Susan Murphy

Hi Harris! I love your voice, and think you should form a band. You are very passionate, and I think you just need a drummer and a bass player to back you up. I can't wait to see you play at Davis Square again!

  • Emotional
    author: Isabel Black

"Farewell To A Dear Friend" made my friend and I cry. Harris seems really sad, and I respect this CD because he shares his feelings so freely.

  • Makes a Jew proud
    author: Brian Coyne

I heard Harris perform Hatikva in the Harvard Square T station, and had to buy his CD. The website was cool too. His angry voice is very easy to relate to, although sometimes a little loud. If you are Jewish (and even if you aren't Jewish), get this guy's CD.

  • buy this!!
    author: Shelly Bender

I saw Harris perform at Club Passim in Cambridge, and he is intense! His voice and face are so expressive and passionate. I bought this CD from him, and I love it! Define Happiness rules!!!

  • Great talent, great promise
    author: Darren Mccabe

I'm impressed by this artist's range of musical genres and uniqueness: a sort of neo-Dylan with other influences I can't quite place. Great vocals and great harmonica work, but the mastering could have been more effective. The underlying skills are all in place, however blurred they may come across beneathe layers of reverb and chorus. Harris Bierhoff sings his heart out into an artistic, coherent CD.
