ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Big Cam & the Lifters has been playing extremely danceable roots rock-and-roll music for more than 25 years throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia and D.C.

Starting in the back rooms of a car dealership unwilling to spring for a band for its Christmas party, sometimes it seemed there were more Big Cams than Lifters.

Perhaps the closest the band came to having a consensus Big Cam was Lorenzo T. Howard, the lead singer who passed away 2009 at the age of 70.

Over the years there have been more than two dozen full-time members, with an additional 30-plus fill-ins.

The current lineup is the strongest ever, with longtime members Teresa Moore on bass and vocals, Bob Grover on piano and vocals, and Bill Gray on drums. Relatively new member Sam Miller (eight years) plays killer guitar and sings. Newer yet is Teddy "Bear" Dennis (two years) on sax, flute and vocals.

Road Trip!
The first 15 years of Rock 'n' Roll produced one dazzling masterpiece after another. This is the musical, magical place where Big Cam & The Lifters hang out. "Revvin' It Up" is a road trip (on 101 octane gas) to all the hot spots: Motown, New York's Brill Building, Memphis' Stax. The tank's topped off with essentials by, among others, Sam Cooke, The Shirelles, Bobby Day, The Drifters, The Righteous Bros. and Carla Thomas. Good stuff, not treated as museum pieces; Big Cam is, first and foremost, a Rock 'n' Roll band. The recording is crisp: you feel the electro-glide of locked-in bass and drums keeping the big beat steady for the juke joint git-tar, honky tonk piano and across-the-tracks sax. Three of the crew share lead vocals - check the band's website for ID's and credentials. Their schedule's on there, too - catch them live and feel the rumble when they open up all eight cylinders. And grab this muscle car of a disc and give it a spin - it'll get you where you want to go.
